Privacy policy

This policy explains what CourtGPT collects when you visit the public site or use its legal research surfaces. It is written for the current development preview and does not promise controls or practices that are not yet implemented.

Data we collect

We may receive information you choose to provide, such as an email address when you contact us, account details when authentication is enabled, and the prompts, documents, notes, or other content you submit to a CourtGPT workspace.

Our infrastructure may also receive basic technical information needed to deliver and protect the service, including IP address, browser and device characteristics, approximate request timing, route or feature usage, and error or security logs. We use this information for operations, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and product improvement.

  • Workspace content is used to provide the feature you requested and to enforce workspace access controls.
  • We may retain operational logs for as long as reasonably needed for security, reliability, and legal obligations.
  • If a feature is marked demo, limited, or unconfigured, do not treat it as a production data-processing commitment.

What we do not collect or claim

CourtGPT does not claim to collect every document on your device, monitor unrelated browsing activity, or sell personal information. We do not use public legal-source pages to imply that we have access to sealed, private, or non-public court records.

Do not submit highly sensitive information to this development preview unless the applicable workspace agreement expressly permits it. The public pages are informational surfaces, not a confidentiality promise or legal advice.

Third-party legal sources

Some legal research surfaces retrieve or link to public data supplied by third parties. Those providers may process request metadata under their own terms and privacy policies. CourtGPT does not control their retention practices, availability, or corrections.

  • Congress.gov — public federal legislation, bill, member, and action data.
  • CourtListener — public court opinions, docket materials, and related legal records where available.
  • GovInfo — public government publications and official legal information.

How we use information

We use information to operate and secure CourtGPT, respond to requests, provide search and document features, measure reliability, and communicate about service changes. We do not present generated research as a substitute for professional legal judgment, and we do not treat a source result as verified merely because it appears in an interface.

Your choices and contact

You may ask what personal information we hold about you, request correction or deletion where applicable, or ask a question about this policy by contacting the CourtGPT team through the channel that provided you access. We may need to verify your request and may retain limited information where required for security or law.

We will update this page when our data practices materially change. The date above identifies the current version of this policy.
